New Name

The name of our new training system has been changed from "Constructor Training System" to "Front and Center Training System" or "FACTS".

The name change came about for two reasons:
#1: The new system is no longer built "on" the Constructor program environment. The new system is a stand alone program and it is not part of the Constructor program anymore.
#2: As a stand alone program the new system supports the use of the Constructor program as a "tool" when creating diagrams for assignments. The trainee's version of the program will run a special Constructor program that will let them edit and run diagrams depending on the settings. In addition to the Constructor, FACTS will also include other powerful tools to help in creating assignments.

ongoing development...

With the new addition of "Lessons" added to CTS, the basic layout of an assignment will be:

Assignment rules and layout information:
-Trainee Names
-Classroom Names
-Dates
-Time limits
-Display layout

Lesson document:
-Text
-Images
-Constructor Diagram
Nothing in a lesson is returned to the trainer for review or grading.

Quiz document:
-Text
-Images
-Constructor Diagrams
-Numeric response questions
-Multiple choice response questions
-Text response questions
Everything in a quiz is returned to the trainer for reivew and grading.

When an assignment includes both a lesson and a quiz the trainer has a choice of selecting whether or not the assignment is "Open Book". When an assignment is "Open Book" the trainee can switch between viewing the lesson and the quiz. If an assignment is not "Open Book" the trainee will not be able to view the lesson once they have started the quiz portion of the assignment.

The new feature of "Lessons" was added to CTS.

A lesson will usually be the first part of an assignment that a trainee will see and interact with. It is created using the "Lesson Manager" which is much like the "Quiz Manager". Lessons can import Word documents and can export to a Word document and also a PDF format. Lessons can have "Diagram Links" placed inside the document which are used to display specific Constructor diagrams. The diagrams may be viewed only or allowed to be modified depending on your settings. Unlike in the Quiz Manager, any diagrams in a lesson will not be returned to the trainer for review. The main purpose of a diagram in a lesson is the visual effects and also to give the trainee a "hands-on" approach in the learning process.

ongoing development...

A total re-vamp was performed on the quiz manager. The quiz manager is more powerful now in that it supports importing existing Word documents. The Word documents can be used as the quiz or it can be used as an outline in creating a new quiz. The quiz manager will also export to a Word document and also to a PDF format.

The quiz manager interfaces with Contructor diagrams by allowing you to insert "Diagram Links" inside your quiz documents. The diagrams will be displayed when the trainee clicks on one of these links. Once displayed, the the diagrams can be viewed or modified depending on your settings. Any modifications made to the diagram are automatically saved. At the end of the assignment the diagrams will be returned along with the answers to the quiz for the the trainer to review and grade. There is no limit on the number of diagrams that can be included with a quiz.

Pricing

The Constructor Training System will be setup on a yearly subscription basis. When the program first becomes available everyone with a Constructor 8.0 site license will automatically get a free one year subscription to CTS.

The yearly subscription cost for CTS will be $995.00 per year for customers who have a Constructor site license, any version. For customers who don't have a Constructor site license the yearly subscription cost will be $1495.00.

If you have a site license of an older version of the Constructor program and CTS hasn't been release yet, you can upgrade your site license to the current version 8.0 and then you will automatically get a one year subscription to CTS free when it is released.

This is important; if you do own a site license of the Constructor program, the Constructor Training System will not replace it. We just give you a better price for CTS because you do own a site license. You will always own your site license and never lose it even if you decide not to use CTS anymore. Customers who don't have a site license should still consider getting one. Over the course of a few years the savings that you will receive on the yearly subscription cost by owning a site license will actually offset the cost of buying a new site license.

With the yearly CTS subscription plan you will always get the latest version of the Constructor program whenever it is released. Plus, you and your students will always be using the same version of the program.
